As the weather got colder and the snow came down more, CEMS assembled a team of individuals that went out and helped the homeless or those less fortunate who were without heat, water, or food. Coats, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, shoes, pants, blankets, etc. were also handed out. As a result of the publicity of the event, community sup-port and donations of food, clothing, and even firewood poured in from several volunteers.
As temperatures in Metro Detroit approach record lows, Parastar and Community EMS of Southfield, Michigan are working together to help bring relief to the region's homeless population.
Two busses - originally purposed for assisting in Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts - have been repurposed as winter weather relief vehicles for the next 48 hours.
Botsford Hospital hosts its fifth annual Safety Fair on Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., in the Community Room of its Zieger Administration & Education Center. This fun, FREE event for the whole family offers hands-on demonstrations for keeping everyone safe in and out of your home this summer. Many activities for kids, plus the popular Children's Hospital Helmet Booth*.
The USODA OPTI National Youth Regatta in July 2013 will attract approximately 400-425 sailors, age 8-15 years old, to compete on Lake St. Clair in the Optimist dingy sailboat. They will travel with their families and will be in our community for up to 8 days. They will come from throughout the United States and Canada with some from foreign counties.
Community EMS is proud to sponsor Downtown Farmington's Holly Days! Bring family and friends to see the free Holiday Movies at the historic Farmington Civic Theater. Join the tree-lighting celebration at the Warner Mansion. There will be a visit from Santa and activities for all the kids to enjoy, as well as the Wish List Window. Gift wrapping, entertainment, food and lots of holiday spirit will be aglow. Holly Days takes place on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
