As temperatures in Metro Detroit approach record lows, Parastar and Community EMS of Southfield, Michigan are working together to help bring relief to the region's homeless population.

Two busses - originally purposed for assisting in Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts - have been repurposed as winter weather relief vehicles for the next 48 hours.

These relief busses act as a mobile warming shelter, allowing the homeless to escape the frigid temperatures, and have a warm meal. Through donations, Parastar / CEMS has also been able to provide blankets and clothing to those in need as well.

Community EMS is currently accepting clothing donations its Southfield headquarters.

“The shelters are places of refuge for everybody and they are excellent resources, but with this unit being mobile we can get to where people are that have these critical needs” says Parastar executive project manager Kevin Bersche.
