On August 9th and 10th, reviewers from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Service (CAAS) conducted an on-site review of Community EMS as a part of our accreditation renewal. The CAAS review team evaluates each characteristic of the accreditation process and a score for each characteristic is assigned.

The CAAS accreditation is regarded as the “gold standard” in the ambulance industry, often exceeding the standards established by state or local regulations.  The standards set forth in the review process are designed to increase operational efficiency and decrease risk and liability across the entire spectrum of the organization.

AUGUST 14 2012, COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN – Community EMS Paramedics were honored Tuesday for their part in saving a man's life.

On February 24th 2012, a 68 year old man suffered cardiac arrest while in attendance at the Multi-Lakes Conservation Association in Commerce Township.  Bystanders Sam Mullins and William Seery, along with Deputy Sarah McCann of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department administered CPR.

August 2, 2012 will be my 30-year anniversary at Community EMS and because this milestone came upon me much too fast, and frankly unexpectedly, I thought it appropriate that I talk about the journey because it is an important anniversary for the company and me. In 1982, while I was waiting to get into Emory University graduate school in Atlanta Georgia, an opportunity came my way to start an EMS system for Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills Michigan. I was asked to consider the job because I was a Paramedic with a degree, or maybe it was because I was a Medic who cared about people and quality each day I put on my uniform and went to work.
